Swedish Meatballs
Ingredients
For meatballs
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
1/4 cup grated onion
1 garlic clove
1 egg
1/3 cup plain bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
For sauce
5 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon worchestershire sauce
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups beef broth
Instructions
To make meatballs combine all the ingredients and mix well. Form into 1 to 2 inch balls depending on your preferred size. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a large skillet. Place all the meatballs in the skillet and cook them for a couple of minutes on each side. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and add the other 4 tablespoons of butter. Once butter is melted stir in the flour and allow to cook for a couple of minutes. Then add the beef broth and worchestershire sauce, stirring constantly until mixture begins to thicken. Add the heavy cream and continue to stir until thick and creamy. Place the meatballs back into the skillet with the sauce, cover and cook on low for an additional 10 minutes. Sprinkle with some chopped fresh parsley and serve with egg noodle or rice.
