Sausage Rolls are a traditional savory British pastry that are made from a mixture of sausage wrapped in puff pastry and baked until golden brown. They are perfect for any party and are always a hit!
2 sheets of puff pastry
1 pound of ground breakfast sausage
2 Tbsp spicy brown mustard
I use frozen pre-made puff pastry. Allow puff pastry to sit at room temperature for about an hour, make sure to leave the pastry covered. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise. Combine mustard with the sausage mixing well. Fill a pastry bag or a plastic ziplock bag with sausage mixture, cutting the corner of the bag big enough to pipe sausage through. Pipe the sausage in a line on one side of each half of pastry sheet. Wisk egg with a tablespoon of water and brush on other half of pastry sheet. Roll the pastry around the the sausage. Press a fork lightly all along the seam. Cut sausage roll in the desired length and place onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush remaining egg mixture over every roll. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in a 400 degree oven until golden brown and sausage is cooked through.
