Homemade Naan Bread

Did you ever think you could make this soft and chewy Naan Bread in your own kitchen? It is so easy you will want to make it all the time! This bread not only is easy but it cooks up quickly and is absolutely delicious. Yogurt in the dough is what gives the naan its soft and tender texture. This bread is a perfect accompaniment to any Indian or curry dish, but is also great with soup, hummus, used as a wrap, and even topped with sauce and cheese for a pizza.

Naan Bread

Ingredients

2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast (yes that equals

1/2 tsp, it is how the recipe I used worded it so I went with it)

1 tsp sugar

1/2 cup warm water

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg

1/2 greek yogurt

1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, add the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir to combine well. The yeast should be activated when it becomes foamy, about 5 minutes.

2. Add the flour, salt, egg, yogurt, and oil and stir until the mixture forms a dough. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for at least an hour until it has almost doubled in size.

3. Divide the dough into 10 to 12 equal portions. Roll each piece of dough, using a rolling pin, to an 8 inch circle.

4. Heat up a skillet (cast iron preferred) over high heat. Place the dough on the skillet. When it puffs up and bubbles, flip it over and cook the other side. Repeat the same until all dough are done.

5. Brush the naan with melted butter and serve warm.
