Go to any Diner and I'm sure you will find Country or Chicken Fried Steak, this is an classic American dish. It doesn't get much better than Country Fried Steak! If you want some down home country cooking then give this Country Fried Steak a try.

Country Fried Steak (AKA Chicken Fried Steak)

Ingredients 4 to 6 cube steak

1 cup flour

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp seasoned salt

2 eggs

1/3 cup milk

salt pepper

vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Season each steak with salt and pepper. Add seasoning to the flour and stir. Combine milk and eggs and whisk. Dredge each steak in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and then back in the flour mixture. Pour oil in a large skillet until it is about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep. Once oil is hot enough drop the battered steak into the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

To make the gravy, discard all but 1 Tbsp of the oil keeping the brown bits in the bottom of the skillet. Add 2 Tbsp of salted butter and stir until melted. Begin adding some of the same flour mixture you dredged the steak in to the melted butter and whisk. The amount will be about 3 to 4 Tbsp of flour. Allow the flour to cook for a couple of minutes and then gradually add some milk, whisking continually. The gravy will begin to thicken, add more milk if needed until you get the consistency you desire. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
