Who doesn't love Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes? They are the perfect side dish and are always a hit anytime they are placed on the table. These potatoes are good all year long, for every holiday, and every occasion. They are creamy, cheesy, and simply delicious!
Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Ingredients
8 cups potatoes, sliced thin
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme
4 tbsp butter
6 tbsp flour
2 cups milk or half and half
1 cup chicken broth
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
In a large skillet cook onions in butter until they become tender and translucent. Sprinkle in the flour and then add the chicken broth and milk, stirring constantly until thick and smooth. Add seasoning and half of the shredded cheese. Place half of the thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish, spread half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes, and then sprinkle with some cheese. Then place the other potatoes over cheese, spread the remaining cheese sauce over them, and top with the rest of the shredded cheese. Bake in a 350 degree oven, covered for 45 minutes, and uncovered for 30 minutes.
