There is something so comforting about thick and creamy sausage gravy over a delicious buttermilk biscuit. This sausage gravy will definitely hit the spot for any breakfast! This recipe is not only quick and easy to make and with very few ingredients, and the flavor is outstanding! Made from scratch with ground pork sausage and seasonings.
1 pound pork sausage
1 to 1 1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp butter
4 to 4 1/2 cups milk (I use 2%)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Cook the sausage in a large skillet until it is completely browned. Add butter and seasoning then begin sprinkling in flour a little at a time. Use enough flour until the fat is absorbed. Add milk starting with 4 cups, whisking continuously to incorporated all the flour. When gravy begins to thicken more milk might be needed depending on your desired consistency.
